I noticed on July 19 the school light zone is still flashing on Salcedo Road. It's the school that's on Lindenwood Drive. I guess I was wondering if school really is in session or did they forget to turn the light off. I attempted to call the school board and superintendent's office and get the answering machine or an automated system with no option to get ahold of an operator. ...

NEW MADRID - A long-time New Madrid County Sheriff's Department employee is charged with theft. Following an investigation conducted by the Missouri Highway Patrol at the request of Sheriff Terry M. Stevens, Deborah L. Cowan, the former Sheriff's Department office manager, was arrested on the charge of theft/stealing (value of property or service over $25,000) a Class B felony.
