At 5:22 a.m. Wednesday, fire personnel were called to Ja-Mar Manufacturing, 228 N. Interstate Drive to battle a fire in freezing temperatures. The Miner Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Scott County Rural Fire District and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety to battle the blaze which is believed to have begun in the office area of the business. Miner Fire Chief Zach Albright said the fire heavily damaged the front office and the adjacent shop area. According to Albright the Missouri Fire Marshal's office was called in to investigate the fire, which kept fire personnel on the scene until about 9:45 a.m. Albright added his thanks for the assistance Miner Fire Department received in battling the blaze. "I was challenging due to weather conditions but everyone pulled together as they always do," Albright said.
