House Bill 1788 has been reported to the Senate and First Read in the Senate Chamber! This legislation will increase the membership of the Highways and Transportation Commission to seven commissioners. It will also require new appointees to be residents of different Department of Transportation districts, as opposed to each member hailing from the same area. I have requested that this bill be referred to a Senate committee; stay tuned for more information about it's progress!...

Caruthersville Vet Headstone discovered (Community News ~ 04/07/16)
The discovery of a headstone has left law enforcement with many questions. The headstone of WWII veteran L.T. Wimberley, who was buried at Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville, was found Thursday at a foreclosed home outside of Miner. The tombstone was found nine years to the day he was buried. Wimberley's tombstone in Caruthersville is still intact, leaving police to ponder how did the headstone get on the Scott County property and why. The investigation is still ongoing.
