First PHS alumni volleyball game

The Portageville Junior High Volleyball team sponsored its first Portageville Alumni Volleyball Games on Saturday, January 5th in the high school gymnasium. Organizers hoped to have enough for four teams to do a round robin and then tournament play. They played by regular volleyball rules, best of 3 sets to 25, win by 2. At the beginning of the play, there were only two teams. The Younger team of the most recent graduates, and the “Old” team. the Old team won...

VANDUSER, Mo. — Ronald D. "Ron" Hatley, age 75, passed away Jan. 5, 2019, at his home in Vanduser. He was born March 10, 1943, in Wardell, to the late Claude and Ruth Gean Hatley. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1977 at the rank of senior chief. Ron is survived by one son, Paul Hatley of Vanduser; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Mike and Mary Jane Hatley of Oran and Brenda Gail Burke Hatley of Sikeston; seven sisters and three brothers-in-law, Claudette (Jim) Chailand of Oran, Marie (Dwain) Bryeans,of Oran, Linda Joyce Hatley of Vanduser, Marsha Lee (Roger) Amos of Vanduser, Darline Brown of Cape Girardeau, Donna Graviett of Vanduser and Ronna Ponder of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Gavin Seth Jones, Joshua Hatley, Zachary Hatley, Chance Hatley, Aubrey King; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sue Lee of Dexter.. ...
