At approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday, New Madrid City Police responded to a residence in New Madrid for a possible shooting. Three virus deaths reported in area; active cases decrease in Scott County

Three additional deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported by local health departments since Tuesday. Two deaths were reported in Cape Girardeau County and the other was reported in Scott County. The Scott County Health Department reported 21 new cases Tuesday and 12 on Wednesday but also reported 22 recoveries Tuesday and 31 on Wednesday.
