Route Y bridge in Scott County closed due to deteriorated condition

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced on Wednesday, Jan. 11 the immediate closing of the Route Y bridge in Scott County. Recent inspections showed the structure was deteriorated. The bridge is over Drainage Ditch No. 1, about a quarter mile west of Route B. Steele man sentenced to prison for attempted robbery of convenience store

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – A Steele, Missouri, man who tried to rob a convenience store was sentenced on Wednesday to seven years and 10 months in prison. Mark Jones, 39, pleaded guilty to an attempted robbery charge in October.
