CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Bill Dudley, a senior at Baylor, a preparatory school for boys in Chattanooga, has been promoted to cadet commander with the rank of cadet major.

BLOOMFIELD - Joe Welbourn of Bloomfield was elected president of the Southeast Missouri Council, Boy Scouts of America, at its annual meeting at the Hickory House Restaurant. He succeeds Circuit Judge Marshall Craig of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - Deneka Borders, 17, the Daily Standard's calendar girl, can't wait to open her presents this Christmas. Upon graduation from Sikeston High School, Miss Borders plans to attend the University of Alabama and major in accounting. While there, she also wants to participate in cheerleading. She is the daughter of Ron and Connie Borders and was first runner-up in the 1987 Miss Sikeston contest.


SIKESTON - A burglary and several possibly related larcenies from motor vehicles were reported to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety over the extended Thanksgiving weekend. Six larcenies from motor vehicles were reported Friday and Saturday. Five of the larcenies included thefts of radar detectors and one resulted in the theft of a shotgun.

SIKESTON - Brooke Patrice McDonald, 16-year-old daughter of Duke and Pat McDonald was crowned Miss Missouri Teen All American 1998 recently in St. Louis. She competed in evening gown, swimsuit and a personal interview with five judges.


SIKESTON - Santie Wholesale Oil Co. of Sikeston has purchased the lubricant and chemical operations of United Distributing Company, formerly known as United Oil Co. Bruce Barnes, president of Santie Oil Co., said the sale will be effective Dec. 1.
