Your view: Mission accomplished

Thursday, February 19, 2004

After reading the complaints about the Sikeston Rescue Mission, we did some self-examination and, yes, we could do better but let me tell you how many people we served with our referral program last year.

We distributed 5,226 clothing and household items for the year. This helped 210 adults and 213 children. We helped six burnouts. Through the food basket program, we distributed over 5,000 baskets of food. We also help people from the Grant City church.

It is plain to see that we can't help everyone, but we are thankful for the opportunity to help those we can. Out of 100 people, 99 can be satisfied and say nothing, but one can complain and everyone knows about it.

We are proud of our store. We have customers come from as far away as Carter County, Arkansas and Illinois. They tell us how neat and clean the store is and what good items we have. They can stretch their budget by shopping here.

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated money, clothing and household items. The proceeds go to help the transient and food programs. Without you, we couldn't do our job.
