Temple Johnson

COLUMBIA - Tempie Jane Mason Johnson, 85, formerly of New Madrid, died at 7 p.m. April 14, 2004, at the Columbia Manor Care Center.

Born March 8, 1919, in New Madrid, daughter of the late Benjamin S. and Mary Jane Hart Mason, she was a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church. She worked at the garment factory in New Madrid for 22 years.

On Nov. 11, 1939, in LaForge, she married Amos Johnson who preceded her in death on May 4, 1992.

Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Burt of Jonesboro, Ga., and Jane Davis of Columbia; two sons, Larry Johnson of Millington, Tenn., and Herman Johnson of Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, Africa; one brother, Henry Mason of Sikeston; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, one brother and four sisters.

Visitation is from noon today until service time at 2 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
