Your View 12/5: Thank a caregiver

Friday, December 5, 2003

Do you know or are you someone who provides care or assistance for a famly member who is ill, disabled or elderly?

Well, it's time to say thank you.

This is a time to "Share the Caring" and speak up for the more than 50 million Americans who provide care or assistance to a loved one who is chronically ill, disabled or elderly.

There are a number of ways to help such as preparing a meal, providing a ride or by simply saying thank you for all that these caregivers do.

The National Fmaily Caregivers Association (NFCA), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering famiily caregivers and improving their overall qualtiy of life by providing information, education, support and advocacy, organizes NFC month each year.

To learn more about NFCA call 1-800-896-3650 or visit www.nfcacares.org.

Take a moment this month to honor, thank and assist any family caregivers that you know.

This message has been brought to you by the representatives of MoCAN (Missouri Community Advocacy Network), Nancy Sharkey and Tracy DePriest.
