DEXTER - The annual meeting of the Southeast Missouri Council, Boy Scouts of America, was held Monday in the Southwest Elementary school. Officers elected were: president, Jack Oliver; and vice presidents, Judge Marshall Craig of Sikeston, Thurston Hill of Dexter and Dr. Walker Long of Poplar Bluff.

SIKESTON - Clint Elledge of Sikeston Motor Co. received the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce Pride Award for December. Jerry Aufdenberg presented the award to Elledge and Glen Ault was guest speaker at the luncheon Thursday at Gaslite Square.

SIKESTON - Sikeston resident Rosie Shaw was honored Thursday evening as the 1993 Sikeston Woman of the Year during a banquet at the Sikeston Country Club.


PARMA - A Parma police officer was injured when a domestic disturbance turned violent Thursday evening. At 9:23 p.m. Thursday, the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol were alerted that Parma Police Officer Doyle Crow was being assaulted. During the ensuing altercation, Crow's service revolver was taken from him and two shots fired. The assailant then fled the scene. Crow was admitted to Missouri Delta Medical Center where he was treated for a broken pelvic bone and a fractured rib. Crow was not struck by any of the bullets fired during the scuffle.
