Violet Treadway

WAPPAPELLO - Violet Treadway, 92, formerly of Dexter, died Feb. 28, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff.

Born March 24, 1910, in Evansville, Ind., daughter of the late William Aaron and Charlotte Korb Long, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.

On April 11, 1926, in Dexter, she married Homer Treadway who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1990.

Survivors include: three sons, Bill Treadway of Chaffee, Gene Treadway of Puxico and Wayne Treadway of Carlsbad, N.M.; four daughters, Mae Pope of Essex, Fay Fortune of Newburgh, Ind., and Jo Stinson and Norma Nash of Wappapello; and 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Long; and one sister, Pansy Brock.

Services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating.

Burial followed in the Armstead-Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
