Dexter to play for title

DELTA -- The championship game of the Delta Girls Tournament was set on Wednesday night, with top-seeded Dexter and second-seeded Twin Rivers advancing with semifinal victories. Dexter beat St. Vincent 59-44 and Delta defeated Twin Rivers 65-50.

Saturday's championship game will tipoff at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

In other tournament games on Wednesday, Woodland defeated Puxico 66-36 and Chaffee beat Oran 54-33.

Jennifer Vandeven scored 16 points, leading Chaffee to a 54-33 win over Oran in the consolation bracket on Wednesday. The Lady Red Devils jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring Oran 16-5 in the second quarter and 12-9 in the third. Teresa Hodges led the way for Oran with 13 points. Chaffee will now face Woodland for the consolation title on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Dexter advanced to the championship game, beating St. Vincent 59-44 on Wednesday. Katie Dunlap scored a game-high 20 points, followed by Rachael Blunt with 15 and Hannah Burleson with 10. Daniell Shremp led St. Vincent with 14 points. Prost contributed 13 in the loss. Dexter will take on Delta in Saturday's championship game at 5 p.m.

Rebecca Below scored 32 points, leading Delta to an impressive 65-50 win over Twin Rivers on Wednesday night. Rebecca Cook added 14 points for the Lady Bobcats. For Twin Rivers, Amanda Lance led the way with 16 points. Twin Rivers will play St. Vincent for third place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Delta will take on Delta in the title game at 5 p.m.
