Brown -- Kenedy

NEW MADRID -- Don and Janis Brown have announced the engagement of their daughter, Christie Marie, to Gary Lee Kenedy Jr., son of Gary and Susie Kenedy of Matthews.

A 1995 graduate of New Madrid County Central High School, the future bride graduated in 1999 from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She earned a masters in elementary education in 2002 from William Woods University and is employed by the New Madrid County R-1 School District.

Her fiance graduated in 1995 from New Madrid County Central High School and is a self-employed farmer.

Wedding plans are being finalized for a Jan. 18 ceremony.
