Letter to the Editor

Your view: Who's lying now?

Friday, September 24, 2004

How can you tell what a Democrat is guilty of? Answer: just listen to what the Democrat accuses his opponent of. Most times the Democrat will be engaging in the very wrongdoing for which he condemns, with a rigid self-righteous pointing finger his "target" must be punished, castigated, ostracized, persecuted (any metaphor for banishment from their lauded plane you care to use will fit here). A prime example is a letter to the editor printed Sept. 10 in Your View.

The writer piously attacked my letter printed Sept. 3 in Your View, arrogantly touting high standards for accuracy and truth prior to launching his attack. I hope my response to that Democrat's lies about my letter will be rushed to print with equal urgency as his was. This Democrat, Mr. M.P., launched into a barrage of verbal spitballs. He starts by saying I was reviving Republican spin.

No, I was just repeating facts Kerry denies. Zombie followers, like M.P. just accept the Democratic National Convention (DNC) faxed or computer generated talking points and launch without checking the facts. They refuse to listen to facts that punch holes in Kerry's fabricated stories. You know facts are one of those "constant" things. "Spin" is an innocuous code word for lies born in the Clinton era. Spin is ever-changing rhetoric or lies a politician employs on any given subject, depending on when he is speaking, to whom he is speaking, and the image he wants to convey to his targeted audience; kind of like what John Kerry does. Democrats will say this describes George Bush perfectly.

Republicans say that about John Kerry. Which side has more facts to back up their claim? One obvious fact few will deny is John Kerry's negative image, because of this, is huge. But, if enough Democrat zombies repeat his lies (I mean spin), past experience with Bill Clinton convinces the DNC they can drown out the facts. The problem is John Kerry is just not nearly as good a liar as Clinton was. But Democrats are convinced that lying and spinning is the mother's milk of politics, right next to money. They have to lie to get your money, to get your vote, to get more of your money, to keep their power to punish those with money. Democrats like John Kerry end up being billionaires by exploiting the ignorance and desperation of the poor, and disadvantaged (like me, except I've learned better than to listen to them) trying to convince us that Democrats are the smart ones. Democrats are the "compassionate ones." Democrats will "take care of you." So join in and vote for them. They'll make you smart, give you money, pay your medical bills, buy your groceries, raise your kids, give you a job, make you pretty, good looking, sexy and "cool" just like Theresa Heinz Kerry. All you have to do to "earn" all that is just repeat their lies and vote for them.

My letter of Sept. 3, stated that the predominate national media, of which Dan Rather is their poster boy, has a liberal Democrat bias. Mr. M.P., the Democrat fired back a spitball and said, "that's a lie!" But he offered no proof or substantiation. I could cite dozens of examples as my proof, but, I think the most trusted liberal in America by fellow liberals, Dan Rather, and his current dilemma, is sufficient proof for Exhibit A on this point. At present it dwarfs all other examples that could be cited.

Now Mr. M.P. the Democrat said, liberal Democrat bias in the news media does not exist! So, I ask you, who lied about this obvious fact? me or Mr. M.P., the Democrat? I stated that a poll of Washington reporters and media members revealed a 12 to 1 ratio of support for John Kerry. Mr. M.P. the Democrat sputtered another spitball and said, "That's a lie!" But he offered no proof or substantiation to back up his claim. Like all Democrats of his ilk, he thinks the mere utterance from his arrogant lips is sufficient proof. Well, here are the facts.

John Tierney, a New York Times reporter, reported the 12 to 1 findings after polling 153 of his colleagues from Washington during the Democratic National Convention in Boston. Anyone can look it up. So look it up, and then decide who lied to you. Me or Mr. M.P., the Democrat. I said that if the Swift Boat Vets were coming forward with personal eyewitness accounts and stories about George Bush the way they have John Kerry, the Democrat biased predominant media would be clamoring non-stop 24/7 (remember the Abu-Gharib treatment?) along with the DNC demanding George Bush resign from the race. Mr. M.P., the Democrat says that is a lie. He says the news networks have given the "Swifties" equal time! His proof? None, of course. He just asserts that the networks provided a platform for the Swift Boat Vets.

That is so outrageous, it's laughable, except I don't find it amusing at all. I especially was not amused by his shameful attack on Bob Dole. Anyone who has eyes, ears and a brain knows that the only network up until this writing to allow the Swift Boat Vets equal time for their stories to be heard with any sense of decorum were Fox News and C-Span. And if you Democrats say Fox News is right-wing, then common sense, by juxtaposed definition dictates that ABC, NBC, "See BS" and CNN are all left-wing. The only "platform" these networks provided was a news anchor or host who was happy to side with the John Kerry surrogates.

Did you see these "Swift Boat Vets for Truth" getting any warm and fuzzy book reviews by the perky Katy Couric, Matt Laurer, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Larry King or Dan Rather? NO. Did Dan Rather trip all over himself rushing to air with forged documents on a "60 Minutes Special" to back up the Swift Boat Vets' observations and stories?" No. So, now who is lying to you? Me or Mr. M.P. the Democrat?

John McMillen,
