Speakout 5/14

Call 471-6636

This morning around 9 a.m. I was on North West when the coal train started into the plant. I was there for about 30 minutes and wondered, in an emergency, what would I do? How would I get out of it? Would it be better to wait until the train got through, turn around and then go down Salcedo Road and finally up to Tanner Street? If I had a child who was in an emergency situation, it would seem to me the city would ask the railroad to put a number at the cars, how many cars were yet to come across those crossings coming into Sikeston? One at increments of each 25 cars would be a suggestion and could help save a life getting a child to a hospital.

I want to SpeakOut about Dr. Hansen. We will miss you. We love you and we hope you and your family the best. May God be with you wherever you go.

John Ashcroft prevented federal agents from checking potential 9/11 terrorist on gun purchase lists, yet they were allowed to screen purchases made from a bookstore. That is why it is so absurd for Jensen to criticize the ACLU. We all know Jensen will never forget the ACLU for standing up for equal rights and the day he had to share the lunch counter.

I was reading your editorial about the ACLU on May 8. I agree with you that they are a bunch of idiots. I think the government should do away with the ACLU. They are the most jobless group of people in the United States. We just really need to get rid of them. If anyone who reads this is a member of the ACLU, I just want them to know that they need Jesus and if they don't accept him, they will burn in hell. The ACLU is the people who took prayer and the Ten Commandments out of school pretty much. They won't even let kids say the Pledge of Allegiance because of the phrase, "One nation under God." They made kids quit saying that. I would just like everybody who reads this to know the ACLU is made up of the most godless and ignorant people in the nation.

The food stamp recipients don't have anything on the farmers now. If the farmers don't make it, the government is going to give it to them anyway. So if you're a big time farmer, there's no way to fail. Just keep that mailbox door open for them checks.

I'm calling about the person who wrote the SpeakOut about putting your account number on your checks. Yes, you should write it on the lower left-hand corner of your checks where it says "memo" or "for."

I would like to congratulate The Dixie Players for their Hee-Haw Show.

It looks like the taxpayers are going to build the new stadium for the owners of the Cardinals. I'm not sure how we'll get there with all the holes on Interstate 55. Peter Kinder has done an outstanding job for the Cardinals. We should remember his efforts at election time.
