Speakout 7-20

A national holiday for the end of the Iraqi war? Did I hear the news right? There was no declaration of war, there was no armistice. VE-Day is not a holiday, VJ-Day is not a holiday. What is wrong with these people?

I am looking for someone who gives private swimming lessons to younger children.

I cannot believe when someone in Sikeston whose grass gets a little tall and the yard needs mowed gets a ticket. But as anybody can see that the old Fleming Warehouse is ridiculous. Why is this being let go? Thank you, City of Sikeston.

I was reading in SpeakOut where a doctor's office has a sign on the wall that says they can refuse treatment if you can't pay. Before a doctor treats you, a person comes in and asks all kinds of questions, including, "How are you going to pay?" Also, if you go to the hospital and have no insurance and they treat you, and you tell them you can pay a certain amount each month. Then if you tell them you can't pay any more, they tell you it is not a sufficient payment. There are plenty of doctors around, but you can't afford to go. What are poor people to do when you pay all you can? Used to, if you made an effort to pay each month, it was OK. Now the are constantly bugging me and almost causing me to have a heart attack. I guess if I die, they won't even get their $100 a month. What are old people and people who have no insurance to do - just lie down and die? I hope they have a good conscience - but who's got a conscience anymore? Surely not the doctors or hospitals here in Southeast Missouri.

I saw where Derek James was talking about three guys that went somewhere else to play baseball instead of Legion ball in the July 13 paper. A man worked with me on the farm for about 20 years. He said, "One monkey don't make no show." So I just wanted to tell you, someone will always come back, somebody is always going to be there.
