SpeakOut 5/31

Call 471-6636

I have a Sikeston address and phone number but my kids do not go to Sikeston schools because we live just outside of Sikeston and they cannot use the Sikeston library. Please tell me what district I'm in. They go to Kelly Schools and I can't go to Benton library either because we don't live in Benton, same for Charleston. If someone can tell me what library I can use, please put the information in SpeakOut.

I am looking for a used commercial type popcorn popper. If someone has one for sale at a reasonable price, please leave a number in SpeakOut.

If anyone knows about the 7-year-old boy who died when he was hit in the chest with a baseball, please put their address in SpeakOut so I can write to the family. His mother's name is Sherri Parman. My church is praying for them.

We ran the Associated Press story on May 22. The boy's name was Nader Parman II from Marietta, Ga. We have no way to find his address. You may try to call the Journal newspaper in Marietta at (770) 428-9411 for information from his obituary.

Hey Street Department, I live over on Dona Street. On the way to work today, I ran over a Volkswagen in one of them potholes.

I read the May 22 SpeakOut. To the people who say every time we shovel food into our mouths that we get it because of farmers. Back in the days before we had farmers, everybody had to grow their own food. Not everybody is too dumb to plant their own food. We don't need farmers for everything.

I'm calling in regard to the article in the paper about the residents of Charleston. It seems to me that the person who wrote in needs to start at their own front door. It's not the authorities of Charleston running up and down Cleveland Street; it's them. Maybe they need to stop there and stop that and things would get better.

I tried to contact someone in our Scott County government. Not knowing the number, I picked up the phone book and noticed there are 13 numbers in the telephone book for the entire county of Scott County, eight of them are in Sikeston and only three in Benton. If all the business of the county is going to be conducted in Sikeston, why don't we move the county seat to Sikeston? Further, your county commissioners, come election time, are always there for you. But have you ever tried to contact one?

The Sikeston numbers are for the convenience of Sikeston residents to avoid a long distance call. The offices remain in Benton.
