Call 471-6636

To President George W. Bush, I wish you'd clean up all those places over there and you need to clean up the terrorists and all the drug dealers here in our own back yard. I want to thank you, President Bush, for all you've done for our country. I hope you help us clean up our back yards so we can keep our country strong and mentally prepared for the challenges that await us in the future, and for our children and the generations after them.

To the person who is looking for someone who does ironing, call me at 471-5838.

It's May 20 and my son is on a league and two of his games have not been called in. He did get his and it would be good if it made the paper. Someone should be seeing that the game stats are called in.

How about it coaches? 471-6980 (fax: 471-6981).

This is to the "must win come hell or high water" Sikeston Little League coaches. You win some, you lose some. They forget that sports used to be fun sports and teamwork. Now a few of the coaches in Sikeston have taken it upon themselves to work with only a few selected players, mostly the kids who hit every time they bat or the chosen ones of Sikeston with a name. Granted, some of the kids are very deserving, but if you gave a list of all the kids playing baseball to several people in Sikeston, I'll bet you could pick out most of the all-star players merely by name recognition only. Why don't you start being fair and look at all the kids? I think there are probably several kids with potential, and just because they don't get home runs, triples or every ball, doesn't mean they aren't going to be a good player with a little help and inspiration. Don't get me wrong. Some of the coaches are pretty good about working with the players. But a few might just give them all a bad name, and you know who you are.

I am calling in reference to the noise makers that were used at the SHS graduation. I only hope the adults who used the noise makers were asked to leave, the same as the two young men were. It's very, very unfair if they were not. Granted, these were students. They knew better. But the parents also knew better and if they weren't asked to leave, then a great injustice was done. Those two young men didn't deserve it if the parents didn't. I hope this school system will take this into consideration.

I would like to commend the area businesses for putting signs up to honor the class of 2003, but if I were going to put a sign up for all of the Sikeston area to see, I would be sure to spell the word "congratulations" with a "t" instead of a "d."
