WAPPAPELLO - Adah L. Merick Rowell, 70, formerly of Morehouse, died Aug. 27, 2003, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Wappapello.

Born Sept. 13, 1932, in Morehouse, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mercedes Merick. A member of VFW Post 3416 Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles Aerie 4066 Ladies Auxiliary in Wappapello, she was also a member of Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 Ladies Auxiliary in Sikeston.

On Dec. 31, 1953, in Chaffee, she married Charles Herbert Rowell Sr. who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: five sons and two daughters-in-law, Herb and Julie Rowell Jr. of Floresville, Texas, Steve Rowell of Wappapello, Tom Rowell and his fiancee, Linda Mills, also of Wappapello, David Rowell of Sikeston and Tim and Sharon Rowell of Morehouse; two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Brian O'Meara of Florissant and Jennifer and Paul Scott of Maryland Heights; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Earlene Merick of Aquilla; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Shirley and Harold Murphy of Bossier City, La., Barbara Boyer of Sikeston, Rozella and Fred Payne of Bridgeton, Mildred and Dr. Ron Winkle of Seattle, Wash., and Nancy and Jody Early of Maryland Heights; seven grandchildren, Amy Rowell of Charlotte, N.C., Alex Rowell and Lindsey Rowell of Floresville, Becky Rowell of Sikeston, Matt O'Meara, Kevin O'Meara and Madeline O'Meara of Florissant and Zachary Rowell of Wappapello; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Dr. Rick Ramsey, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
