MINER -- A female remains in stable condition after she was shot by her friend's husband in Miner early today.

Scott County Sheriff Bill Ferrell said his deputies were called to assist the Miner Police Department after a female was reported shot in their city. The victim was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center and treated for a single gun shot wound to the chest.

The shooting occurred after a husband and wife had an argument. The husband grabbed a gun and fired one round into the residence, striking a female friend of his wife, who was visiting.

The suspect was later arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail, where he is pending formal charges through the Scott County Prosecutors' office. Sikeston Department of Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest of the suspect. Names are being withheld until the suspect is charged.
