Wrestlers sign with Missouri Baptist
SIKESTON -- Sikeston wrestlers Cleveland Anthony and Justin Keller recently signed letters of intent to wrestle for Missouri Baptist College.
"It's always nice to get a couple of kids to move on to college and wrestle," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss. "It just lets the younger kids know that with hard work and dedication, that opportunity is there for them also."
Keller wrestled in the 140 division for Sikeston this season. "Justin just wrestled varsity mainly the last two years," said Hodgkiss. "I would say in those two years he drastically improved."
Anthony wrestled at 130, and qualified for state as a sophomore and senior.
"Cleveland wrestled all four years of varsity and was pretty steady throughout most of those years," said Hodgkiss.
This will only be Missouri Baptist's second year of NAIA competition. Three years ago, they were just a club team.
"It's going to be tough for them coming in as freshman to get into the varsity starting lineup," said Hodgkiss. "But with a lot of hard work, I think they both can have success there."
