EAST PRAIRIE - The saga continues - disturbances at the Game Room on East Washington Drive - and the City Council Thursday evening heard an update from Police Chief Richard Gregory concerning the latest incidence, referred to as a "melee." Gregory explained the latest disturbance was a "family-style situation," noting a private party was "hosted" by employees after hours without the knowledge or approval of the owner, Bobby Gammons. "I opened the business for little kids, not the 18 or 19-year-old drunks," Gammons said. The council was advised by City Attorney Hense Winchester that it appears presently the city does not have a legitimate reason to pull Gammons' license. However, Gammons was reminded that it is his responsibility to control what goes on.

ESSEX - Morris Karnes' team played so well Thursday, he said it was almost frightening. Richland rolled over Advance 93-77 in Class 1A District 2 semifinal action to set up tonight's showdown against Scott County Central. "I'm not sure that Advance played that bad," said Karnes, "we just played awfully well." The club is now 22-6.
