Blane Stafford

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Blane Stafford, 92, formerly of Dexter, Mo., died May 31, 2003, at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Born Sept. 19, 1910, in Stoddard County, Mo., son of the late Thomas and Minnie Allen Stafford, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and a former manager for Missouri Utilities.

On July 4, 1928, in Bell City, Mo., he married Oma Pletcher who preceded him in death on April 9, 1994.

He then married Frances Hart at Jonesboro, Ark., on Nov. 26, 1994, and she preceded him in death on May 22, 2001.

One son, Wayne Stafford; two brothers, Olen Stafford and Hurley Stafford; and one sister, Odessa Gibbs, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Howard Stafford of Sikeston and Tom Stafford of Jonesboro, Ark.; one daughter, Judith Partain of Franklin; one stepdaughter, Kay Powers of Nixa, Mo.; two brothers, Eldon Stafford of Essex, Mo., and T.G. Stafford of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one sister, Lola Young of St. Louis, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Tom Stafford will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
