MINER - Hoang Xvan Nguyen, 81, formerly of Vietnam, died at 9:30 p.m. May 30, 2003, at his residence in Miner.
Born Jan. 1, 1922, in Nghe An, Vietnam, to the late Danh Van and Trieu Thi Nguyen, he was a farmer and served with the National Guard of South Vietnam. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston.
In 1955 in Saigon, Vietnam, he married Nam Thi Nguyen, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dat Quoc Nguyen of Detroit, Mich., and Quyen Tan Nguyen of Sikeston; four daughters, Hoa (Mary) T.C Nguyen of Sikeston, Hong T.T Nguyen of Detroit, Mich., Van T.T Nguyen of Warren, Mich., and Trang T.T Nguyen of Vietnam; one brother, Dieu Nguyen of Vietnam; two sisters, Bich T. Nguyen and Vui T. Nguyen of Vietnam; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen A. Schneider officiating.
Burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston under the direction of Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers were: David Doles, Steve Sloan, Joe Ledbetter, Jimmy Dale Thomas, Dinh Hoang and Bruce Groves.
