KELSO - Elmer George Heuring, 80, died at 9:05 a.m. Feb. 6, 2005, at his home.

Born June 11, 1924, in Kelso to the late Lawrence and Clara Gosche Heuring, he was employed in farming. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. A member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, he was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6420 in Scott City, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6407 in Scott City and a member of the American Legion Post 133 in Perryville.

On Sept. 11, 1948, at New Hamburg, he married Alene Catherine Scherer who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Diane Minor of Kelso and Karen Heuring of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Joe Heuring of New Hamburg; one sister, Lorena Beussink of New Hamburg; and four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one stepgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and one grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where parish prayers will be recited at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus service at 7:15 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Augustine Cemetery at Kelso with graveside military honors provided by the Missouri Honors Program.

Pallbearers will be David Minor, Larry Heuring, Dean Heuring, Steven Beussink, Glendon Stroup and Jerry Heuring.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Glover, Norman Heuring, Darrell Heuring, Jacob Little, David Beussink and Charles Heuring.
