Speakout 3/16

Wednesday, March 16, 2005

I would love to have somebody that would teach me to knit. If you are interested leave your number in Speakout please and I will contact you.

Mike Jensen, you're funny.

I want to Speakout about Mr. Bush and Social Security. Mr. Bush needs to shut up about Social Security. He is just flat ignorant. If he would keep his fingers out of it and quit stealing from it, it would be OK. He needs to go back to Texas and bury his head in the sand as far as I'm concerned. He has got the U.S. in a terrible situation and it is getting worse. I will be glad when he gets out of office. It is a shame we have to put up with him for three more years. I know all those Republicans are proud of him and proud of what he is going to do to Social Security.

Mr. Jensen, don't look now but I believe your political bias is showing. Your March 8 editorial about Dan Rather was so petty and really cheap shot. All because you think he was on the other side of the political aisle from you. Dan Rather apologized for receiving the wrong information concerning Mr. Bush's National Guard duties. Mr. Bush said we had weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and now after 1500 dead and many wounded he has not apologize for wrong information. Do we have a double standard here? As you wrote about Dan Rather's ego may I remind you that it takes one to know one. Have you looked in the mirror lately?

The Wichita, Kansas, police have the alleged BTK killer while the Sikeston, Missouri, police have the BDK - bag of dirt kid.

I will miss Dan Rather. He was a great news reporter. He spent days and nights to be anchor during times of national crisis with the teleprompters shut off. He would ask some tough questions about popularity - whether it was a presidential assassination, the Berlin wall, Bosnia or Iraq, he was there. The controversial story that should not have errored was mistake he was sorry about but we humans don't wear a badge with our mistakes or we would all wear one. I appreciate his reporting hard news for 24 years. I believe his career was a great one and he will be missed by many.
