SCOTT CITY -- Viola Hannah Kern, 84, died at 8:10 a.m. Dec. 28, 2002, at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 21, 1918, at Ancell, daughter of the late Frank Arnold and Rosalie Pfefferkorn, she had been a sales clerk at Amrhein Drug Store in Illmo and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.

On Jan. 21, 1940, she married Harold John Kern who preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 1964.

Survivors include: one son, Ronald Kern of Scott City; one sister, Pricilla Rhodes of Ferguson; and two grandchildren and their spouses, Sherry and Donald Thomas of Cape Girardeau and Gary and Courtney Kern of Scott City; and three great-grandchildren.

One brother and one sister preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, with parish prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rites at 6:45 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, with the Rev. David Coon officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Scott City.
