Speakout 5/9

Monday, May 9, 2005

I'm calling in response to "Here's the answer" about a deacon owning a nightclub in Thursday April 28 paper. I would like to say that whoever gave this answer, he better start reading the Bible. You realize that you said you don't have to be a Catholic or a Baptist to go to a Christian school. You still associate Christianity - Baptist, Catholic that is a form of religion - and a deacon is the head of a church. But a nightclub is the devil's den. You cannot associate the two. You have to choose one or the other. You cannot serve two gods. Seems to me that you might be the deacon that owns a nightclub because to me you are just making an excuse. This is not an answer.

This is to "Left toothless" you were talking about being on Medicaid and now they are going to cut it off. I have two kids of my own and I work. I have dental and if had anything as screwed up as a Medicaid card I would be worried too. But I have to work. So she needs to get up and take care of her kids the same way any other single working parent that wants to make something out for their kids and their own life.

I'm calling about the person who said she would rather give $100 to the rich than to the poor. I suggest she read your Bible. God said you are suppose to give to the poor than to the rich. Plus, if we keep having Bush in there for our president, we are all going to be poor. We are all going to need money. The poor will need more than $100 because right they need $10,000 because that is what it is going to take to live. Please read your Bible and decide now whether you want to give to the rich or the poor because God will take judgment on you.

I understand that we have voted for a water district for Scott County. Does this mean the entire county will get water along with fire plugs? This will reduce the fire insurance for your house. Is there information available when this will happen. Please tell everything you know about this, especially the when.

All meetings are public and the water district board meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

Mike you are always talking about Medicaid and people getting free money and everything. Just look at the oil prices. A barrel of oil dropped $9-10 now and gas prices are still $2. Or is it just you pick on the poor people because they can't afford a lawyer. If you say anything about the high prices and OPEC are you scared their lawyer is going to run on you or what? I agree with him to a point that people who draw welfare but can work should be took off. But people like seniors, they shouldn't be taken off. I don't think you could live off $600 a month. There is no way you could do it. Why don't you go after the big boys? Make comments how the refineries, Exxon and all these other gas companies are ripping up on us or are you afraid of a lawsuit?

I think it is very nice that Wal-Mart donated different amounts to schools for Project Graduation. It is a good cause. I was wondering why they donated money to the city of Lilbourn. That is no place for it to go.
