Frances Emerson

BENTON - Frances Mae Emerson, 80, formerly of Morley, died at 10:37 p.m. July 11, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 12, 1922, in Bertrand, daughter of the late Arthur and Jessie Houston Stone, she was owner and manager of Cato's Clothing Store from 1970 until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morley and of the Benton Senior Citizens Group.

On Aug. 3, 1941, in Lutesville, she married Raymond Emerson Sr. who preceded her in death in September 1965.

She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters, one stepdaughter, one stepson and three brothers.

Survivors include: one son, Ray Gene Emerson of Morley; one stepson, Kenneth Emerson of Advance; two daughters, Debbie McKim of Poplar Bluff and Becky Rodgers of Morley; one stepdaughter, Juanita Isaacs of Morley; one brother, Donald Stone of Piedmont; one sister, Betty Seller of Modesto, Calif.; and 24 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Morley with the Rev. Rodney Davis, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Morley, and the Rev. Jim Matthews, pastor of Red Star Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Old Morley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
