On-line system brings honor

JEFFERSON CITY - Rodney Britt is the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services October Employee of the Month.

A computer information technologist specialist II, Britt was selected for his outstanding collaborative work in bringing a new state-of-the-art learning management system to Missouri. The LMS is a complex on-line system with a wide range of functionality that gathers and shares data related to all areas of professional development. Britt successfully coordinated this project based on his technical expertise and innate ability to work with people, including people with limited computer knowledge, according to his nominators.

The core of the system is being purchased from the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Public Health. Britt worked closely with the Office of Training and Professional Development in the Department of Health and Senior Services and his own management staff and the technical people from UIC. Also he developed the scope of work for the contract and worked closely with the Division of Administration. This was critical because DHSS will share the system with the St. Louis University School of Public Health Heartland Center for Workforce Development, state officials noted.

Britt, who has worked for the department since 1983, lives in Holts Summit with his wife, Lisa and two daughters. They have another adult daughter that lives in California. He is the son of Jerry and Imogene Britt of East Prairie.
