Two killed in separate accidents
SIKESTON - A Sikeston teen and a St. Louis man sustained fatal injuries in separate accidents over the weekend.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the first accident occurred at 6:20 p.m. Saturday on Highway 62, one mile east of Miner, when an eastbound mo-ped driven by 16-year-old Jonathan Spence was weaving through traffic and traveled into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Walter Hedrick, 86 of Sikeston.
The teen was pronounced dead at Missouri Delta Medical Center. The body is at Ponder Funeral Home.
The second fatality occurred at 9:30 p.m. Saturday on I-55, five miles north of Sikeston when Garon Davis, 52, a pedestrian, attempted to cross I-55 from the median and was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Heidi Edens, 34, of Cordova, Tenn.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Gerry Goin.
