Marie Dowdy

DEXTER - Marie Dowdy, 83, died April 6, 2004, at Cypress Point Health Care in Dexter.

Born April 16, 1910, at Clarksville, Ark., daughter of the late Dale and Frances Cox Dempsey, she was of the Baptist belief.

On Sept. 13, 1933, at Clarksville, she married Jack Dowdy who preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1983.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry Dowdy and Richard Dowdy of Dexter; four daughters, Louise Oliver of LaPeer, Mich., Iva Horn of Bloomfield and Lovena Dowdy and Nancy Pullum of Dexter; two sisters, Mary Towel of Morehouse and Minnie Williams of Farmington; and 56 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were four sons, Edward Dowdy, John Dowdy, Bill Spence and Jimmy Dowdy; two daughters, Leta Sides and Alice Faye Dowdy; and one sister, Rosie Rebback.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Phil Warren will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
