George Sweet
NEW MADRID -- George E. Sweet, 78, died at 6:38 a.m. June 13, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born June 14, 1926, in Farrenburg, to the late Edgar and Clara Gardener Sweet, he was a retired farmer and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, having served at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
In 1962, he married Joy F. Akins who preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1987.
Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and Mike Brown, Gail and Doug Foley and Jane and George Dawson Jr., all of New Madrid; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Bob and Judy Daniels, Larry and Sue Daniels and Caralina Daniels of New Madrid; one brother, Lois Sweet of Farrenburg; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home where services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Gary Henson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
Pallbearers will be: Brantley Atchley, Michael Brown Jr., Jason Daniels, Cody Brown, George Dawson III and Glen Helms Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Herman Maxwell and Hershel Hardgrave.
