SIKESTON - Complimentary ticket by the Sikeston Standard. This ticket will admit Dr. and Mrs. A.D. Martin to the Malone Theater Friday to see "Great Man's Lady."

SIKESTON - The statisticians are at it again. One of them says the average lawn is cut about 20 times a year - and of course if the neighbor's boy does it, one multiplies that figure by money.

SIKESTON - More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the annual meeting for stockholders of the Sikeston Production Credit Association. The meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at Sikeston High School with G. Mark Mayfield as guest speaker.


SIKESTON - Scott County members of the American Cancer Society were recently recognized for their outstanding efforts in the previous year for the Cancer crusade and education programs. Honored were Diana Hunter, Jan Barkett, Alice Thorne, Karen B. Moore, Ernest Elledge, Janet Lashment, Kathy Ellison and Maxine Kirmaier. District Chairmen Awards and County Crusade Excellence Awards were presented by Diana Hunter.

SIKESTON - The City of Sikeston needed a "grant master," and on Wednesday, it got one. The city council Wednesday voted unanimously to become a member of the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission.


SIKESTON - Two traffic lights will be installed at two locations in the city, according to officials with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission. The intersections of Main and Smith streets will receive one set of lights, along with the intersection of Malone and Ingram.
