Margaret Birkman

ADVANCE - Margaret M. Birkman, 78, died at 12:40 p.m. Aug. 7, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 13, 1926, in Whitewater, daughter of the late George Burrette and Annie Margarete McCormick Kinder, she was a machine operator for the Inland Shoe Company in Advance and later retired from Henchell Manufacturing in Chaffee. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and the Senior Citizens Club, both of Delta.

On Aug. 17, 1944, she married William Birkman Jr. who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Birkman of Advance and Timothy Birkman of Chaffee; one daughter, Shirley Givens of Whitewater; two sisters, Mary Hahn and Jewel Ross of Chaffee; and five grandchildren.

Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dan Baggett will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Jim Eskew.

Burial will follow in the Barks Chapel Cemetery near Crump.

Pallbearers will be: Lance Kinder, Wesley Kinder Jr., Ted Ross, Ivis Kinder, Chris Kinder and Jerry Smith.
