Nicholas Schwach

CHAFFEE - Nicholas Henry Schwach Jr., 77, died at 2:05 p.m. Oct. 27, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 22, 1924, in Gordonville, son of the late Nicholas Henry and Nellie White Schwach, he was a construction heavy equipment operator for McCarthy Brothers in St. Louis and served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, VFW Post 3127, American Legion Post 389 and Elks Lodge 1810, all of Chaffee, Oran Knights of Columbus Council 4311 and Hoisting Engineer's Local 13.

On May 24, 1946, at Dutchtown, he married Marlin Joyce Schoenher who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Margaret Ann Schwach of Chaffee, Diane Sue Heisserer of Woodson Terrace, Sandra Kay LaGrand of St. Peters and Deborah May Speedy of Foley; one brother, John Von of Perryville; two sisters, Mary Stelle Penner and Dorothy Ann Stock of Perryville; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where rites by Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by a rosary at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery at Chaffee.

Pallbearers will be: Ed Heisserer, Tom Heisserer, Keith Hahn, Benny Martin, Wayne Martin and John LaGrand.
