HENDERSON, Tenn. - Lois Ella Burton, 77, formerly of Sikeston and Morehouse, Mo., died Jan. 30, 2002, at her daughter's home in Henderson.

Born Aug. 11, 1924, in Sweetlips, daughter of the late William Patrick and Hallie Leeanna Hamm, she lived in Sikeston and Morehouse for many years before moving to Henderson four years ago. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her first husband, L.V. Hopper, preceded her in death on July 6, 1972.

On July 5, 1973, she married Jack Burton and he died on July 28, 1993.

Survivors include: six sons, Andy Hopper of Adamsville, Tenn., William Hopper of Rockford, Ill., James Hopper of Morehouse, Randy Hopper and Mike Burton of Sikeston and Phillip Flatt of Milan, Tenn.; four daughters, Doris Hevener of Morris Chapel, Joyce Sissom of Sweetlips, Barbara Flanigan of Morehouse and Carolyn Hopper of Rockford; and 35 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, four brothers, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. John Givens of Sikeston will officiate.

Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery in Morley, Mo.
