SIKESTON - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pryor of Route 1, Tuesday.


SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. William DeKriek are receiving congratulations on the birth of twins, a son and daughter Monday morning at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

SIKESTON - Just in time for Christmas, checks are being mailed out this week from the office of John D. Hux, receiver for the defunct Federal Grain Co., totaling some $65,000 to unsecured creditors of the firm - 95 percent of them being farmers. This payment will bring the total paid to the farmer creditors to 60 percent of the company's indebtedness.

EAST PRAIRIE - The first in a planned series of seminars on earthquake preparedness was conducted Monday evening at East Prairie High School. Lloyd Miller, Poplar Bluff Civil Defense coordinator, was the featured speaker.

SIKESTON - Good citizens of the month for November for Sikeston morning kindergarten classes are Jessica Colwick, Durell Brown, Laquita Price, Sarah Jackson, Brandon Williams, Kay Crooker, Michael Dement, Michael Carnell, Jessica Sherrod, Justin Traw, Lauren Leible, Ty Laseter, Erin Dement, Lakeshia Lewis, Ashley Mouser, Stephanie Winkler, Matt Clark and Mike Tatum.


SIKESTON - Bootheel Karate students recently participated in the Missouri Champs Open at Farmington. Winners were: Diane Amelunke, women's brown belt, first in kata; Shernitha Hughes, girl's orange belt, first in kata (winning a bike) and third in sparring; P.J. Arnold, boy's orange belt, first in sparring (winning a bike); and Travis Glueck, boy's black belt, first in sparring and winning a bike.
