SpeakOut 9/30

Call 471-6636

When we have election again for the senators and Congressmen in this country, I'm speaking for the elders and disabled who draw Social Security. The Senate failed to pass a prescription drug benefit for the elderly that they've been promising for years and years. Elderly people need help with prescription drugs and medication. When it comes time for election, these people who have been promising these benefits but when it comes voting time, they vote against it, let's try to keep this in mind at the next election and try to get these people out of office. They're lying to us. They're not telling the truth. They'll say anything just to get your vote. The people who are on Social Security and Medicare should be getting a Medicaid card and those on welfare should be getting Medicare because Medicaid helps those who need help with their prescriptions. Let's get them out of office because their word is no good.

I live in Morehouse and I picked up my Wednesday paper Sept. 18 and I think it is really dumb and mean to not put the business parts in there or SpeakOut and stuff in there for people who are poor and can't afford a paper. Why in the world can't we have that part of the paper like the other people. Some people in Sikeston get it and I just think it's mean and nasty.

Hoorah to the person who answered my comment about farmhands. I won't tell you what farm I grew up on or the one I live on now, but where I live, these boys do exactly what my comment stated. And I do know what it is to try to get out the black grease and mud. These guys do get paid by the hour and for their overtime work.

I'm calling about the article in the Sept. 18 paper, "Mayor, alderman suspended." I would just like to commend Mitch Thompson for his actions. I think it's long overdue and I'm glad to see he finally did something about it.

I want to say a big thank you to Alderman Mitch Thompson at Miner. Finally, after all these months, I can honestly say that I'm proud of Miner. Thank you for what you have done, Mitch Thompson. We have been sick and tired of the way our mayor and alderman have carried on because we are nothing but a laughing stock to the whole community. At least now others can see that not everyone is as stupid as these two men and as childish as they have been. Thank you again.

I am calling about the "Mayor, alderman suspended" article in the Sept. 18 Standard Democrat. I know they were referring to Mayor Frank Tatum and I have requested a couple of times if he would check into a couple of things for me that have been going on. So if this is who you're referring to as "snooping" or "going behind their backs," going in and investigating police officers, well, he wasn't. He was just doing what was asked. The second thing, what exactly are they blaming on the mayor? He's been nothing but good to us in Miner. As far as the letter that Mitch Thompson wrote, I thought it was very inappropriate for the paper. That's his personal business, so why is that being addressed in a meeting and why is it being addressed in the paper since it's personal?
