NEW MADRID -- New Madrid County Central's softball team ran its winning streak to 50 straight on Tuesday afternoon, blanking Portageville 13-0.

The Lady Eagles got another stellar performance out of senior lefthander Heather Robey, who allowed one hit and one walk with 14 strikeouts.

At the plate, Robey was 2-for-2. Heather Redd and Laura Carter were both 2-for-3. Other hits came from Lauren Daniels, Megan Rinehart and Jessica Gist.

"The girls played well," said NMCC coach Steve Rogers, who is now 150-32 at the school. "Heather threw another great game and we had some timely hitting. It was a big win for us, Portageville is a big rivalry."

Mindy Stafford was charged with the loss. She also had Portageville's only hit.

NMCC scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second and nine in the fourth.

"We hit the ball hard all day and didn't have anybody strike out," said Rogers. "We've got a good defensive team, a good hitting team, and obviously, we've got a good pitcher and catcher. That's the name of the game in fastpitch softball."

NMCC (14-0) will host Scott Central today at 4 p.m.

"Hopefully we can get the next two games in and end with another undefeated season," said Rogers.

CHAFFEE -- Chaffee's softball team overcame four errors in the field to beat Chester, Ill., on Tuesday, 3-2.

The Lady Red Devils trailed heading into the seventh inning, but Chester loaded the bases and walked the tying and winning run home.

Shannon Hampton got the win for Chaffee, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. She recorded four strikeouts.

At the plate, Casey Guzman was 2-for-4 and Abby Walter was 2-for-2.

Chester's Jenny Eggemeyer was charged with the loss. Hoffman led them at the plate, batting 2-for-4.

Chaffee (9-2) will travel to Oran on Thursday.
