SIKESTON -- Sikeston's soccer team suffered its eighth loss of the season on Tuesday, falling 9-0 to Perryville.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled on the defensive end again, being out-shot 26 to 10.

"This was one of the worst games we've played all year," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long. "Ever since we lost Flemming Silverthorn four games ago, our defense has been really bad. She was kind of our quarterback back there."

Sikeston is hoping to get good news today when the results of Silverthorn's MRI come in.

In Tuesday's match, Perryville's Jenna Schuessler did the most damage. She finished with a hat trick, scoring three goals. She also had two assists.

Ashley Blyuzes was also a main cog, scoring two goals with two assists.

Sikeston keeper Audra Wooley finished with 17 saves.

"(Perryville) was three or four goals better than us," said Long. "No way were they nine goals better. Paige Silverthorn played a great game and really controlled the middle of the field for us. Unfortunately, we didn't have anything else going at the other positions."

Sikeston (1-8) will travel to Notre Dame today at 4 p.m.

In Tuesday's junior varsity match, Perryville defeated Sikeston 5-0. The Lady Bulldogs were outshot 13-8 and Sikeston keeper Whitney Wallace finished with 12 saves.
