My sister went to Garden of Memories Cemetery on April 14 to put flowers on her loved ones' graves. The weeds were so bad around the head markers, she had to pull the weeds before she could even put flowers there. The cemetery looks like a garbage dump. The company that bought Garden of Memories and a couple of others, the first thing they did was to take up the shepherd's rods. Many families had them and the first thing they did was take them out. I don't think they should have had the authority to do so. This company is not taking care of the cemeteries like they should. It's a shame that they don't do a better job. I'm sure my sister wasn't the only one who had to clean off a grave before they could put flowers out. This company should be ashamed for letting them go like this. The previous owners always kept the cemeteries nice and clean. This company is a disgrace.

I read about Bob Hope and what a true, true American this man has been. He will be 100 years old next month and a recent news article said if it hadn't been for his health and age, that he would have been over there with the military personnel in Iraq. Mr. Hope spent many, many Christmases away from his family entertaining troops in a foreign country when there was a war or some kind of conflict going on. I think this man is a true, true American and we vets who were over there during that time want to thank him and his family for the love that he has for his country, and for the love and respect he has had for military personnel during his lifetime. When Mr. Hope dies, I believe it should be a national holiday because he has been a true, faithful and dedicated American. We love the man and we vets of the VFW just want to say thank you to Mr. Hope, and God bless you.

I would like to respond to a front page article on April 16 that said citizens can voice their complaints to the City Council. What was Mrs. Walker talking about when she said she doesn't think fines are affective as they often pay a fraction due to inability to pay. I have never known of anything like that, where people got off because of inability to pay a fine. If this is going on for the people down there, I'd like to know about it myself. Maybe Mr. Jensen could comment on this.

I am calling regarding my comment in SpeakOut about the hole in South Main Street. I didn't go to city hall; I did say I called the Missouri Highway Department on North Main Street.

We apologize for the error.

Why would Amy Jacquin call a baby that washed ashore in California a fetus? It was a baby. If anyone doesn't know by now how liberal and fascist KFVS and CBS are, they know by now.

The only information we currently have is that the child was unborn (fetus) at the time of his death.
