NEW MADRID - Mamie Joyce Carter, 87, died Nov. 4, 2004, at her home.

Born Sept. 13, 1917, in Arkansas, daughter of the late Enoch Marvin and Beulah Blankingship Holt, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lilbourn.

On Feb. 23, 1935, in Lepanto, Ark., she married Robert Milton Carter who preceded her in death on March 15, 1994.

Survivors include: five sons, Robert Carter, Ray Carter, Phillip Carter and Ronnie Carter of New Madrid and Gary Carter of Lilbourn; four daughters, Louise Harp of Fredericktown and Shirley Williams, Phyllis Boulton and Faye Carter of New Madrid; and 19 grandchidren, 27 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Glenda Sue Carter and Gail Presnell; one grandson, Joey Harp; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Recker; and four sisters and three brothers.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday. Minister Billy Davis and the Rev. Gene Lancaster will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
