SIKESTON - Mrs. L.M. Standley entertained Friday afternoon in honor of the second birthday anniversary of her daughter, Kay.


SIKESTON - Malone Theater today: "Human Comedy" with Mickey Rooney and Frank Morgan. Rex Theater: "Alaska Highway" with Richard Arlen.

SIKESTON - Two former high school players from Sikeston are on the MIAA defending champion football squad of Southeast Missouri State College. Joe Critchlow is a junior guard and Norm Dockins is a junior fullback. Dockins is currently the leading rusher for the Indians.

SIKESTON - Edna Odom of Matthews received a $50 gift certificate from Trudie Williams, Kingsway Mall director, as winner of the Friendly Driver Contest, sponsored by the Mall. Odom became the second winner in the contest, which started Saturday.

SIKESTON - Ronald C. Milbach, president of the Federal Land Bank and Production Credit Association of Southeast Missouri, recently announced the promotion of Glen Allen Mays to the position of account executive. Prior to his promotion, he served as a loan officer in the Dexter branch office.


NEW MADRID - Homecoming usually isn't this tough. If the pressure of playing in front of a huge crowd of alumni isn't enough, New Madrid County Central has other things to consider. Like a 6-0 record. Or a conference championship. "We can accomplish a lot if we win this week," said NMCC coach Ronnie Jones. "We can win the conference, we can keep our state ranking, we'll go into the district at 6-0."
