SIKESTON - Evelyn Palmer, 91, a longtime resident and businesswoman of Sikeston, died on Nov. 28, 2006 at Miner Nursing Center in Miner.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1915, near Kewanee, to the late Henry Stanley and Marie Beck Hastings. She and her husband owned and operated Palmer's TV and Radio in Sikeston. She was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston and is remembered by many for her years of work in the church nursery and the Women's Mission.

On Dec. 5, 1933, she married Eugene "Dub" Palmer, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1985.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Kenneth Palmer; two daughters, Barbara Palmer and Sharan Kay Reedy; two brothers, Henry Hastings and Clyde Hastings; two sisters, Bonnie Hastings and Betty Lustig; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Cubine.

She is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, David and Jo Ann Palmer of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Jeanette Scobey of St. Louis; and four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Jim Calvin, associate pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
