EAST PRAIRIE - Donald Ross Garner, 66, died at 1 p.m. June 13, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born July 16, 1938, near East Prairie in the 34 corner community, son of the late Charlie and Zella Faire Garner, he lived most of his life in East Prairie where he was a member of the St. James General Baptist Church. He was retired from the City of East Prairie.

On July 18, 1961, he married Willene McCloud who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Terresa and Eric Smith of Cape Girardeau; one daughter-in law, Kay Patrick of East Prairie; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Glenda Garner of Rome, Ga., Bruce and Mary Garner of Cape Girardeau, Charles and Mary Garner of Morley and Joe and Judy Garner of East Prairie; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Sue and Jimmy Sterling of East Prairie; four grandchildren, Melissa Upton of Atkins, Ark., Troy Smith of Cape Girardeau and Todd Garner and Trenton Garner of East Prairie; and four great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Kip Garner and Todd Garner; and one brother, Gene Garner, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. tonight at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. Larry Smith will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: George Ivie, Rowe Jackson, Bill Ray, Ray Givens, Bruce Atkinson and David Scruggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Rod Cade, Paul Haney and Jimmy Cave.
