Ida Jean Scott

ADVANCE - Ida Jean Scott, 60, died July 25, 2003, at her home.

Born Dec. 31, 1941, in Advance, daughter of Vera Knapheide Tilley of Advance and the late Joseph Tilley, she graduated in 1959 from Advance High School. She graduated in 1962 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau with a Bachelor of Science in education and received a master's degree in elementary education in 1981 from Southeast. She was an elementary school teacher for 38 years, most of which were in Advance. After retiring in 2002, she was an educator for the Advance Parents as Teachers. She was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church, where she was pianist for more than 30 years.

Survivors in addition to her mother include: one daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Rae and Kevin Davied of Advance; one son, John Joseph Scott of Advance; two grandchildren, Sydney Davied and Spencer Davied of Advance; two cousins, Jim and Pat Tilley of Cape Girardeau; and her closest friends, Lois Vavak and Cecila Wilton of Advance.

An infant sister, Jean Ida Tilley, preceded her in death.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Advance United Methodist Church with Jeannie S. Williams, officiating.

Burial followed in Morgan Memorial Park.

Morgan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
