CHAFFEE - The Oran junior varsity girls basketball team took first place in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament at Chaffee on Jan. 17.

The Lady Eagles, seeded fifth in the tournament, opened with a 55-26 win against No. 4 Scott City. Tiffany Glastetter led the way with 22 points.

In the second round, Oran defeated top-seeded Kelly 37-35. Hanna Seyer provided the game-winning basket, a 3-pointer with under a minute left.

Courtney Nenninger led the way with 13 points.

Oran defeated No. 2 Chaffee in the title game, 42-35. Nenninger led the way once again with 14 points.

"This was the first time our junior varsity has really been given a chance to show their stuff, and they came away with the title," said Oran head coach Susan Diebold. "I was really pleased with the whole team effort. Each and every player hustled, played their roles and worked hard. I look forward to great things from this bunch of girls in the future."
