Billy McDaniel

MONTGOMERY CITY - Billie G. McDaniel, 77, died June 24, 2003, at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo.

Born Aug. 27, 1925, in Canalou, son of the late Adrian and Lena Martin McDaniel, he was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines. He had worked for Burlington Railroad and then was employed by Continental Cars LTD in St. Louis for 31 years. He also worked for Pattonville High School in St. Louis until retiring.

On April 16, 1945, in Bradford, Ark., he married Dortha Alfrey who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lisa McDaniel of Bridgeton; one daughter, Elaine Voigtmann of St. Ann; six brothers and sisters, Martin McDaniel, Harley McDaniel, Gary McDaniel, Wynette Wait, Jannette Wait and Helen Sibley; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Loren McDaniel; and one sister, Lucille James.

Services were conducted in Montgomery City and burial followed in the Montgomery City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Alvin Muchow, Dale Secrist, Roy Yager, Lloyd Davidson, Arlie Boone and Carroll Dempsey.
